The only tea plantation in the United States is the Charleston Tea Plantation located on Wadmalaw Island, a few miles south of the city of Charleston, S.C. The site has been owned by a variety of tea producers over it's 200+ year history but is now operated by the Bigelow Company. Since 1987, this "American Classic Tea" brand has been served at the White House.
Don't miss the "First Flush Festival" held every May. Throughout the year, the site hosts tours, tastings and offers nine flavors of tea (leaves or bottled as iced tea) in their gift shop.
